Tuition fee refund policy
This policy stipulates matters pertaining to a refund of tuition for those applying for a student visa or accepted by the JCLI.
Refund policy to be applied every semesters.
The refund shall be processed via a very student or person responsible for expenses, so as an agent organizing study abroad.
Handling fees incurred in refund of tuition shall be paid by the recipient of the refund.
Once approved through a collective decision making process, refund shall be proceeded based on the refund policy as shown below:
Case 1： When cancellation is made after submitting visa application documents.
Regardless of the ""Certificate of Eligibility (COE) ""being issued or not, screening fee is non-refundable.
Case 2：When cancellation to be made after having the COE issued by the immigration office but before making any payments for tuition,
The screening fee and entrance fee are non-refundable. Upon returning the COE and Certificate of Admission, the remaining tuition shall be refunded. If a dormitory was requested, the registration fee shall be charged.
Case 4: When decided not to enroll at the JCLI before coming to Japan even though an entry visa has been issued,
The screening fee and entrance fee are non-refundable. If a dormitory was requested, the registration fee shall be charged. Once our staff confirms the entry visa has not been used and the Certificate of Admission has been returned, refund of tuition shall be made.
Case 5: When a visa application has been denied by the Japanese Embassy or Consulate,
The screening fee and entrance fee are non-refundable. Upon returning the Certificate of Admission, full refund deducting the screening fee, entrance fee and dormitory registration fee, (only if applies) shall be made.
Case 6: When an entry to Japan with an entry visa has been made, yet, decided not to join the JCLI before a class begins,
The screening fee and entrance fee are non-refundable.
Upon returning the Certificate of Admission and confirming an applicant has gone back to their original country, refund deducting the screening fee and entrance fee shall be made. If a dormitory was requested, the registration fee is non-refundable.
Case 7：Cancellation after a class starts
Withdrawal from the JCLl to be processed with a withdrawal notice. However, the first 6 months tuition under any circumstances is non-refundable. The rest of the tuition shall be refunded every semester (Every 3 months) for the remaining term in which no attendance is made. For such cases, handling fee of 20,000 JPY (excluding tax) shall be charged.
The refund shall take place after confirming the fact that a student has either gone back to their home country or obtained a different visa.
※ Handling fees include compiling of a document to be reported to the immigration dept. and any transaction fees incurred at the time of reporting, pertaining costs, communication charges required for confirming a student's return to a home country, and other fees incurred in reorganizing classes and teachers.
Case 8： Forced deportation or expel from the JCLI as a result of violating a law.
Absolutely no refund to be made.
Case 9: When a class to be suspended or cancelled due to an interruption to a transportation service caused by natural disaster, accident, infectious disease, strike on a transportation system or weather condition,
No refund of tuition to be made as exemption clause.
Case 10: When arrival to Japan has been delayed
No refund on the the classes missed. If a dormitory is originally requested, regardless of not being in Japan, the accommodation fee shall be charged based on the planned duration of stay.
